What do you enjoy the most about your job?

During my time as a Physio, I have met some inspirational people. I love helping them achieve their goals; whether it’s living without pain or performing at their personal best, I don’t think there’s a better perk in any job.

What do you enjoy doing outside of your work life?

Aside from spending time with my wife and daughter, I love watching and playing sports. For the past few years, I have been trying my hand at triathlon, no great achievements yet. I’m also enjoying getting back into golf and hoping to one day beat Stephen on at least nine holes.

Stephen Lane

Since graduating 10 years ago, Stephen has worked in professional sports and a clinic environment before deciding to open his practice.

Stephen draws upon his experiences along with keeping up to date with the latest research ensuring every client receives the quality healthcare they are entitled to. Education on pain and injury is paramount for Stephen during the treatment process. His passion lies in helping all his clients achieve their goals.

Stephen works with a large range of clients, including elite-level athletes, pre and post-operative patients and patients with medical conditions such as Ehlers-Danlos.

Stephen is registered with the British Association of Sports Rehabilitators and Trainers (BASRaT).

What do you enjoy the most about your job?

The light bulb moment – during every treatment, I explain exactly why my patients are in pain. I do this as I feel its important my patients understand why they are in pain, how it came about and then how we can go about fixing the problem. I believe you can only fix or correct an issue once you understand why it came about. Helping patients understand their pain and problems for me is the most enjoyable part of my job.

What do you enjoy doing outside of your work life?

I love to spend time with my family, watching my children learn and play. I enjoy playing golf and eating out. If anyone has any suggestions for new places to eat I'm always up for trying somewhere new so please let me know.

What do you love about your job?

I love being able to help people, nobody likes getting up in the morning with pain or having to stop a hobby due to an injury. I love being part of the process which helps patients get back to things they love and helps them achieve goals, injury-free.

Tell us something interesting about yourself?

I love to travel and have been lucky enough to travel to some amazing places around the world. One of my most memorable experiences was travelling to Uganda for a charity project run by myself and some of my peers. Learning about their culture was the most eye-opening experience; I like to believe that I constantly implement what I learnt in Uganda into everyday life. One of my other favourite places I have had the privilege to visit is Thailand, the country is just beautiful.

What sports/activities do you enjoy?

Athletics has always been a massive passion of mine from a young age, I would train around 3-4 times a week and compete most weekends. The majority of my teens were spent travelling from one muddy field to another for cross-country events.

I like to believe that from my experience as a young athlete, I can relate to clients more when it comes to understanding the frustration injuries have on an individual.

In my spare time, I enjoy going to the gym, as I’m not competing in athletics anymore, I still like to keep active and fit. I love challenging myself, whether it is a hard session, an exercise I have never done before or chasing a PB.

What do you enjoy doing in your spare time?

I also enjoy a girl’s night with the odd one or two cocktails. I think the best part of any girl’s night is the drama of getting ready. I normally get a call to bring the majority of my wardrobe for my friends to rummage through in an attempt to find an outfit.

I love spending time with my dog Harley, arguably the cutest dog ever. He is becoming famous with his own fan club, however, the fame is turning him into quite a diva.

What do you love about your job?

I love that I get to meet new people every day. I get to share their journey from injury through to recovery, seeing the huge improvements they make and helping them to achieve their personal goals.

Tell us something interesting about yourself?

I have recently bought my first house with my partner, and we are really enjoying doing a lot of work to improve it. It has been very interesting going through this process during the pandemic, but we are loving every minute and learning a lot along the way. I absolutely love interior design and I am finding it very fun picking different colour schemes throughout the house.

What sports/activities do you enjoy?

I have played field hockey since the age of 12 and still continue to play now many years on. I love being on the pitch with my team and have been with the same team and coach since the age of 16, which now feels more like a family! I feel my experiences of playing sports help me understand from a client’s point of view the drive to get back to doing what you love following an injury.

I do also enjoy going to the gym when I am not playing hockey, to help me keep fit and injury-free.

What do you enjoy doing in your spare time?

I have two cats, Dexter and Pedro and I love coming home from work and being able to give them cuddles! I also love spending time with my family and regularly travel around for each of them to make me my tea, as I am not very good at cooking myself. I am also partial to a nice meal out with a glass of prosecco.
